A woman and a three-year-old girl are in hospital suffering from an E.coli infection, possibly linked to a fish and chip shop. Librarian Karen Morrisroe-Clutton from Wrexham is critically ill and on life support at Wrexham Maelor Hospital after eating a vegetarian burger. Her husband Paul is at her bedside, the BBC reports. Mrs Morrisroe-Clutton has an 11-week-old baby, Oliver, who is being looked after by her mother, Rose Morrisroe. She said her daughter ate the burger last Tuesday (28/07/09) and fell ill afterwards. ‘She's been in a medically-induced coma since then and is on kidney dialysis and a plasma exchange machine.’ Doctors at Wrexham Maelor Hospital said Mrs Morrisroe-Clutton was ‘stable’ and her body was fighting the disease, although the situation could become worse ‘at any moment’. In Liverpool, a three-year-old girl is being treated for renal failure at Alder Hey Hospital. An environmental health officer told Wrexham magistrates that two out of four cases that had been tested had been confirmed as E.coli 0157. The Llay Fish Bar, in Llay, Wrexham has been closed since 30 July and magistrates have granted an indefinite closure order. Owner Ramazan Aslan issued a statement through his solicitor saying that he was ‘co-operating fully’ with the investigation and his thoughts were with the families of those who were ill. Speaking for his client, his solicitor said Mr Aslan ran ‘a clean and sensible establishment’ and used ‘respectable food suppliers’. © 5r1 Limited Free Injury Compensation Claims AdviceIf you, or somebody you know has been injured in an accident or by medical negligence the victim could be entitled to make either a personal injury compensation claim or a medical negligence compensation claim.
