A mother from Colliers Wood has alleged that her two-year-old son was left with a 6-inch scratch across his forehead, after the zip on her new jeans caught his face while they were cuddling.
The Daily Mail reports that 27-year-old Natasha Claxton was wearing the jeans and gave her son Harrison a cuddle. When she let go of him, she saw a deep scratch across his face and thought he had been cut by a hidden piece of glass on the bed where he had been playing.
The scratch was bleeding, said Ms Claxton – and she remembered that she had cut her own finger on the zip when she bought the jeans the week before.
Ms Claxton – a PR consultant who lives with her male partner – said that, had the zip caught a child’s eye, they could have been blinded.
The jeans were bought at New Look in Brighton, east Sussex. She emailed the store photos of her son’s injury – but feels her complaint was not taken seriously after a man she spoke to suggested she post the jeans back with the receipt and the photos.
A spokesman for New Look confirmed, however, that the store was taking the complaint seriously. 'This is an unfortunate incident which New Look are treating seriously. We are currently investigating the matter. 'All our products undergo stringent quality control, as the safety of our products and customers is paramount. If the fault lies with the garment, then the customer and/or child will be compensated accordingly.' © 5r1 Limited 2010 |
