The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has issued a Class 2 drug alert to healthcare professionals, following evidence that medicines manufactured by the company MJ Biopharm in India might not meet European standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
Some medicine licence holders are currently carrying out recalls at wholesalers and pharmacies of certain medications made by the company. This is being seen as a precautionary measure only, however, and there is no indication or suggestion that the medicines involved are not safe for patient use. The MHRA statement accompanying the drug alert says that the recalls only relate to the specific medicines and licence holders named in the alert – and the same medicines marketed by other companies are not affected. The MHRA has advised patients to continue taking their medicines if they have been manufactured by MJ Biopharm, or speak to the pharmacist who dispensed the medication if they have any concerns. MJ Biopharm’s products are registered in more than 20 countries and licences are currently being registered in 60 countries worldwide – among its products is the insulin formulation branded as Biosulin. © 5r1 Limited Free Medical Negligence Claim AdviceIf you or a loved one has suffered from medical negligence by a doctor, then contact 5r1 Claims.
