Cosmetic surgeons are introducing £1,000 Botox treatments to help women combat sagging breasts following pregnancy.
Dr Sach Mohan at the Transform clinic says that the treatment is best used as a one-off for a special occasion to boost confidence after giving birth.
The Daily Mail reports that around 12 injections of Botox are used in the area of the pectoralis minor chest muscle, which causes other muscles in the back to become stronger, causing a ‘lifting’ effect in the breasts.
Anaesthetic cream is first applied to the area to numb the effect of the so-called ‘Breastox’ injections.
Doctors say the treatment will not make breasts fuller – but it will help smooth out sun damage, as well as causing a temporary ‘lift’.
Dr Mohan says new mothers should wait for around three months after the birth of their child before having the treatment.
'A young woman who has recently been pregnant might not have very much in her wardrobe that fits. But she is under pressure to look good just weeks after giving birth. This is another tool in their armoury.’ Transform’s head of nonsurgical treatments, Gwen Davies, said that sun damage in the breast area could also be a ‘dead giveaway’ to a woman’s age, with regular sunbathers most likely to suffer from wrinkling of the area. 'Sun damage rapidly ages the skin, leaving it wrinkly and saggy – and unfortunately, while many women are cottoning on to wearing sun cream to protect their faces, they're not paying the same attention to their chests,’ said Ms Davies. |
