Bond car manufacturer Aston Martin has joined forces with Toyota to develop a ‘Cygnet’ range of commuter cars. The Warwickshire-based Aston Martin company unveiled the prototype on Monday (29/06/09). The design is based on the Toyota iQ car with a Euro NCAP 5-star safety package. The baby concept car developed as part of the Cygnet range will offer commuters ‘a distinctive, intelligent and exclusive solution for urban travel in style and luxury’, said Aston Martin’s chief executive, Dr Ulrich Bez. ‘Now is the right time for Aston Martin to take this first bold step to embark on this special project – made possible with the support of an organisation of Toyota's stature and capability and the intelligent design and perfect city car package of the iQ,’ said Dr Bez. The car combines the prestige of Aston Martin’s luxury brand ownership, with Toyota’s quality and reliability to produce a commuter car that is small, environmentally friendly and highly fuel efficient, the company said. More work is needed on the design but Dr Bez said he was confident the car could go into production ‘in the not too distant future’. © 5r1 Limited, 2009 For free impartial road & car accident claim adviceIf you or a loved one has sufferred in car accident or road, then contact 5r1 Claims.
