The promoters of the annual Reading Festival have been fined for a breach of health and safety regulations, following a crane accident in 2006.
On Thursday (08/10/09) at Reading Magistrates’ Court, a judge ruled that Reading Festivals Ltd had failed to carry out a proper risk assessment to ensure the safety of workers.
Wenn news reports that, in 2006, a crane at the festival site ran into power lines.
Reading Festivals Ltd was fined £4,000 and ordered to pay £21,769 costs.
The organiser of the festival, Melvin Benn, was cleared of 18 counts of failing to ensure the safety of contractors.
