A road accident in France on Friday night (23/10/09) has left four people dead, including two British people, one of whom lived in France.
The accident happened on a country road in Beaumarches – although the road is straight, the two cars involved in the accident collided head on.
French newspaper Depêche du Midi said that three of the victims died at the scene – a 34-year-old woman and her three-month-old baby from the Gers region and the British driver of one of the vehicles, who had been living in the Beaumarches area for several years. A passenger from Scotland reportedly died in the ambulance on the way to hospital – both Britons were in their sixties.
Police are currently investigating the causes of the accident – firefighters took four hours to cut the victims from their vehicles
