The West Midlands Ambulance Service has said four young men were killed in Birmingham, after their car smashed into a wall in the early hours of Saturday morning (14/11/09).
The Press Association reports that the accident occurred at around 3.45am in Salisbury Road, Moseley. A senior paramedic, two rapid response vehicles and an ambulance crew attended the scene, but all four occupants of the car were pronounced dead at the scene.
The boys have been identified as Hasni Ali, Hadi Suwef, his younger brother Kamal and Hamza Siraj. The ages of three of the boys have been established as 15, 16 and 17. The age of the fourth victim is to be confirmed. Speaking to the Daily Mail, 24-year-old Haroon Manir – who lives in the road where the accident took place – said it was becoming an accident hot spot. 'It is like a race track round here. They think it is an open road. They see the straight and they floor it.’ The owner of the house whose garden wall the car crashed into does not wish to be identified, but told reporters that they heard a loud bang and looked out of the window to see the car ‘horrendously damaged’. A spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said:
‘Crews arrived to find a car which had been in a significant collision with a wall. The four occupants of the car, all men, suffered serious multiple injuries in the crash. Unfortunately nothing could be done to save the men and they were all confirmed dead at the scene.’
A police car attended the scene of the accident shortly after it happened when a passerby flagged it down. Fire crews say that weather conditions at the time of the accident might have been a contributing factor. A spokesman for the fire officers said: 'Unfortunately nothing could be done to save [the boys] and they were all confirmed dead at the scene.’
West Midlands police are calling for anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward. – including the passerby who flagged down the police car.
The car the boys were travelling in is not believed to be stolen, the police said. © 5r1 Claims Limited 2009
