A man killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday afternoon (15/11/09) has been identified as 69-year-old local businessman Tony Sullivan from Woodford, near Stockport.
Mr Sullivan was piloting the helicopter and crashed on farmland in Adlington, east Cheshire at around 3.30pm.
Fire and ambulance crews attended the the crash but were unable to offer medical assistance and Mr Sullivan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rescue teams used heat-seeking equipment at the crash site but did not locate any other casualties, according to a report by the Press Association.
Mr Sullivan was an experienced pilot and an investigation into the accident has been set up by the Air Accident Investigation Branch.
Cheshire Police say that Mr Sullivan was a wellknown businessman in the area and also worked for charity – he was trustee of an Evangelical Bible College in Derbyshire.
Mr Sullivan leaves a wife, Gerry, and four children.
