Police have named two teenagers killed in a car accident in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland as 16-year-old Anthony McKenna and 18-year-old Paul McGrath.
BBC News reports that both were involved in a road accident on the Killyclogher Road, between Omagh and Cookstown, on Thursday (07/01/2010) afternoon. A third teenager remains critically ill in hospital.
The accident occurred when the car the boys were travelling in collided with a farm tractor trailer.
Local SDLP councillor Josephine Deehan told reporters that the conditions at the time of the road accident were ‘hazardous’, with icy roads and sub-zero temperatures. Ms Deehan said the community was in shock over the boys’ deaths.
Police in County Tyrone are appealing for any witnesses to the car crash or who might have information about the accident to come forward.
‘It’s very, very sad that, just when we had safely gotten over Christmas and the New Year, that these young men have lost their lives,’ Ms Deehan added.
